I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

A Hunger for God
Sermon Notes
Matthew 6:16-18

Jesus assumed his followers would fast. Fasting has been a central part of Christian living for centuries. So why have I never heard of it?

Historical reason: The Protestant Reformation
Contemporary reason: Fast-food culture

But what is the point? What “reward” could there be for intentionally abstaining from eating for a set period of time? What good can it do?

To develop more self-control.

Good Morning and Welcome

Welcome to Huntsville United Methodist Church. It is our prayer that you will find here a worshipful atmosphere, a friendly Christian welcome and an inspiration for service in His Name. If you do not have a church home, we invite you to join our fellowship.

There is a nursery available for children age 6 and under.

Visitors, please sign the attendance pads located at the end of each pew and fill out a visitor card (also located in the pew). There are Prayer Cards available if you have a prayer request. Fill out the card and place it in the offering plate or hand it to the Pastor.

Sunday (17th) Attendance last Sunday was 59.
*Fellowship Breakfast 9:30 a.m. General Offering was $2,350.57.
*Sunday School 10:00 a.m. Parsonage Fund was $220.00.
*Worship & Praise 11:00 a.m.
*Kid’s Club meeting 12:05 p.m. $20.00 was collected for the Pantry.
*Bible Study 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday (20th)
*Choir Practice 6:00 p.m.

Friday (22nd)
*Rummage Sale 7 a.m.—5 p.m.

Saturday (23rd)
*Rummage Sale 7 a.m.—2 p.m.

Today after worship, there will be a brief organizational meeting for anyone who is interested in volunteering to help with Kid’s Club.

The Bible Study on the book of Acts will continue this evening at 5:30 p.m.

The UMW will be having a Rummage Sale in the Fellowship Hall on Friday the 22nd from 7—5 and Saturday the 23rd from 7—2. Donations of items to sell are needed. Donations can be brought by the church anytime this week.

The Youth Coffee House will be open on Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 3:30—6:30 p.m. and Friday evenings from 7—10 p.m. this summer for movies, snacks and fellowship.

Happy Birthday to Jeff Griffin on the 17th, Josephine Dillahunty on the 18th and Alyvia Brodersen on the 22nd. Happy Anniversary to Mitch & Julie Myrick on the 18th, Steven & Leah Davis on the 20th and Jeff & Priscilla Griffin on the 21st.
