Thank you to the United Methodist Women

Dear Methodist Women,
God Bless You for your generous offering to the food pantry. We have been seeing about 600-700 families a month - the need is great right now. God has been meeting every need through the faithful people in Madison County. We are truly seeing the hand of God in a mighty way. Thank you all so much and God Bless & keep you.
Love,
Nancy & Rick Dignan

**Thanks to everyone's generosity at the UMW fundraisers, a gift of $500 was recently given to the Open Arms Food Pantry.**

Sunday Bulletin

Huntsville United Methodist Church
"A Passionate Church for Jesus Christ"

But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him.
- Jesus (Luke 15:20)

Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
This week's sermon, "Our Father", by Heath Bradley.

Sermon Notes:
The Lord's Prayer: "Our Father"

Jesus gave his followers a model for how they are to pray, known as "The Lord's Prayer", which can be found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:1-4.

Our image of God is the most important thing about us. We can pick up many distorted images of God throughout our life. As Christians, we are called to let Jesus show us what God is really like, and to let go of any images that do not line up with the revelation of God in Jesus Christ.

Jesus teaches us to pray to God as "Our Father". What is this Father like? Like no earthly father, no matter how loving he is! Jesus tells us about our Father in Luke 15:11-32. This story that Jesus told is actually a creative commentary on a passage of Scripture from Hosea 11:1-11. Hosea, a prophet, describes God as like a loving parent whose compassion drowns out his anger at his children's wrongdoing.
